Frequently Asked Questions
How, uh... hands-on... is your coaching, exactly?
At Spellbound, very little of our coaching requires any form of physical contact. We are a strictly clothes-on practice, and touching is only ever done consensually and on non-private areas like hands, arms, or shoulders to demonstrate types of touch or sensory stimulus.
We do occasionally offer workshops such as partner dance lessons, which do involve some touching between the lead and the follow (always practicing consent, of course), but there is no actual sexual touch happening in our practice.
Coaching is confidential... right?
Without a doubt. While coaching is not subject to HIPAA (because coaching is not medical care), I have many years of experience working in healthcare under HIPAA regulations and I take client privacy very, very seriously. I do not discuss what comes up in sessions with anyone else (including partners) UNLESS the client expressly asks me to, and even then, I much prefer to schedule a joint session and act as a discussion guide/moderator between the client and whomever they're sharing information with, rather than discussing individually.
If we see each other out in public, I will not out you as a client, although you are more than welcome to be open in public about our relationship if you're comfortable with it. I will follow your lead in that regard.
What if I'm uncomfortable talking about this stuff?
Totally normal. Most people are! We are taught that anything to do with sex, intimacy, and reproductive health is tied to secrecy and shame. Our free Meet & Greet session is a great way to break the ice and get comfortable before digging into anything sensitive, and that's exactly what those sessions are for. We can see if we're a good fit for each other before there's a financial investment.
Still worried? That's ok! Remember, part of my job is to normalize talking about this stuff, and people tend to find I'm pretty easy to talk to. Helping people ditch shame and discomfort is truly one of the most rewarding aspects of my job. We work at your pace, and within your boundaries, always. Give it a try, you may just surprise yourself!
I'm new to talking about this. How do I even know what questions to ask in my sessions?
I love when people walk through the door with no particular agenda! It's just as exciting for me as when people have a specific need. Sometimes we don't know what we don't know... it's not like the sex ed offered in the US is particularly thorough, and besides, culture and science are always changing. Nobody knows everything (myself included!) and I think that's so much fun.
If you come in as a truly blank slate, don't worry; I have a general framework of questions to help us narrow down what would be the most helpful/fun topics to cover.
I want to buy a toy/try a kink/talk to my partner about a fantasy, etc. but I'm overwhelmed and don't know where to start. Do you help with that?
Yes, yes, and yes! All of these things fall well within the scope of intimacy coaching and my expertise and I would love to help.
Do you offer sexual services, explicit photo/video content, or kink/domme services?
Nope, nope, and nope. Sex work is real work and sex workers provide a much-needed and under-appreciated service, but my coaching practice is fully informational/supportive in nature, rather than "full-service." I keep very clear professional boundaries for my safety and yours.
What if what I need falls outside the scope of coaching?
That is when I break out my handy-dandy referral list! I have worked hard to establish a truly wonderful network of providers, educators, and more to help fill the gaps that I'm unable to cover with my expertise.
I have recommendations for individual and couples therapists, physical therapists, medical providers across multiple specialties, educators, and other small business owners, just to name a few. I like my wheelhouse and prefer to stay in it... and I love connecting clients with people who are just as passionate about their field as I am about mine.
Do you have any suggestions for...
Honestly, probably yes. I likely do. And if I don't, I will, because The 'Tism requires I do the deep dive and learn the new shiny things. Schedule a session and fire away!
